Password Generator
Tips for strong passwords
Use a long, random password that is different for every account, and keep them in a password manager. Turn on two-step verification wherever it is offered. Never share a password or send it over chat.
Frequently asked questions
Is this password generator safe?
Yes. Passwords are created in your browser using the secure random generator built into it. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.
How long should a password be?
Use at least 12 characters, and 16 or more for important accounts such as email and banking. Use a different password for each account.
Should I use symbols?
Symbols make a password harder to guess, but length matters most. If a site rejects symbols, turn that option off and increase the length.
Are the passwords stored or sent anywhere?
No. They are generated in your browser and not saved or uploaded.
What does avoiding look-alike characters mean?
It leaves out characters such as O, 0, l, 1 and I that are easy to mix up when you type a password by hand.
How often should I change my password?
Use a strong, unique password for every account and change it if you suspect a leak. Turning on two-step verification adds more protection.
